Calligraphy FAQ's

Do I need to supply stationery for you to write on?

YES, YOU SUPPLY THE STOCK.

You supply your stationery and envelopes for me to write on. I write on your printed invitations, envelopes, place cards etc from your stationery supplier/printer.  Depending on the job I have some card stock in house and can supply some blank place cards and depending what you require, some envelope stock as well.

Do I need to supply more than you need?

YES, PLEASE SUPPLY SPARES OR OVERS

You need to include about 20% extra stock or spares, add at least 10-20 spares as all stock/paper/card are different and react differently to inks, so a test is always required. When writing by hand and using a dip pen and ink, you need to account for surprise splatter, error and those last-minute additions!

How can I get my stationery stock to you?

EASY! SEND BY POST, COURIER OR DROP OFF YOUR STOCK TO -

Send or drop off your invitations, envelopes, place cards and other materials that need to be written on including all the spares - unless otherwise arranged - should be carefully packaged and sent or dropped off to my studio address between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday – unless otherwise arranged.

How can I send you my guest list or address information to you?

EASY! YOU CAN EMAIL YOUR GUEST AND ADDRESS LISTS

Excel spreadsheet or Word documents are preferred and a minimum 12pt type size. 

For small jobs include with your stock a hard copy of all guest names and address information – address information only required for envelopes - exactly as you wish to have them written line by line. Also, helpful if they are numbered.

What if I have amendments to my guest list or address information?

To let me know if there are any changes or amendments to your information before you send any updated list. These things happen, just let me know by phone, before emailing an updated list, so I can work from the most updated information. Sometimes it is just an additional or name change so we can do this over the phone.

Do you write out whole invitations, and menus?

YES I DO!  

I do one master calligraphy invitation or menu or just certain elements for invitation suites, elements like your names, date and headings for you to take to your printer or letterpress printer so they can reproduce this for you.

Do I need to make a booking for your work?

YES PLEASE!  

When possible, a good lead time is welcomed for wedding work or any large corporate calligraphy work – 3 weeks to a month notice would be great so I am able to schedule your work - notice by phone call or email is required.

What is your turnaround time and do you work to deadlines?

YES, I WILL WORK TO A DATE REQUIRED BY.

It does depend on the workflow and booked work at the time. I know the importance of turning around work quickly, so I will work with you to achieve your completion date or deadline. For urgent jobs that are required to be turned around quickly, or needed overnight or “yesterday” an additional rush fee applies. There is a weekend loading fee that applies to corporate work delivered on a Friday and required the following Monday.

Do I need to make a deposit for your work?

YES, A DEPOSIT OF 50% 

Is required for wedding or commissioned work, this non-refundable deposit and part payment is required for notice to proceed with your calligraphy. Payable by EFT direct to my account. I will achieve to complete the work no less than 2 weeks from receiving your stock unless otherwise arranged.

How will I know when you have completed the calligraphy work?

I WILL CONTACT YOU. 

I will usually let you know by email, or in some cases by phone to let you know the work is finished and ready to pick up. Your work will be packaged ready for pick up by you, or your courier from the studio or by postage and handling at your expense.

How do I make final payment for the work?

BY EFT DIRECT TO MY ACCOUNT

I will send an invoice for the remainder of total required for the calligraphy work. Full payment is required for the calligraphy work before pick up or postage to you for the completed work by EFT direct to my account.  For corporate work and sign work I supply an invoice with payment settled in 7 days from invoice date.

Do you do any on-site, event or in-store activation calligraphy?

YES, LET’S TALK!

I am happy to travel for any on-site calligraphy activations needing to be done on-site at an event, or an in-store promotion – Charged at an hourly rate.

Do you do any on-site, sign work?

YES! PLEASE GET IN TOUCH.

I am happy to travel for any signage work needing to be done on-site at your café, shop, bar, restaurant or venue, I also do some small signage in the studio– Charged at an hourly rate.
